Sprout cutters are indispensable in pig breeding farms. They are one of the basic elements of veterinary equipment. The removal of tusks in piglets is mainly done in order to prevent the pigs from chewing later on. Animals without sharp tusks will not be able to injure each other, which was often the case with cannibalism in the herd. Also, small piglets with sprouts left behind can inflict small wounds on each other, through which bacteria and viruses enter, which can cause diarrhea or various diseases and inflammations.

It is very important to carry out the removal of sprouts properly on the piglets. It should be performed as soon as possible after birth, when the wound heals as soon as possible. A common mistake made during this procedure is twisting or pulling the sprouts, which causes inflammation of the gums. Sprouts should be cut evenly using well-sharpened tongs. Sprout removal forceps should be thoroughly sterilized to eliminate any possible risk of contamination.

Sprout tongs for piglets have a properly prepared blade that allows for quick and efficient cutting of the cloves. Piglet forceps cut the tooth rather than crush it; they leave a smoothly cut tang shaft, without burrs or cracks.
