Oregano -
is closely related to Turkish marjoram, which, however, differs significantly in flavor, because phenolic compounds lack essential oils. Some varieties have an intermediate taste between oregano and marjoram. The marjoram has an aromatic, warm and slightly bitter taste, which may vary in intensity depending on the species. Good quality Oregano may have such a strong taste that it can almost anesthetize the tongue, but varieties growing in colder climates often have a weaker taste

Healing properties:

Oregano is used as an antiseptic as well as a medicine for the stomach, intestines and respiratory ailments. It detoxifies, carminates, soothes wounds, irritations and skin diseases. In Greece, due to the content of thymol oils, it is used as a remedy for sore throat, cough and fever. Guelder rose has high antioxidant activity due to the high content of phenolic acids and flavonoids. Works well on stomach ulcers and liver.
